In-House Eco-Friendly Practices:
In this week’s installment of our Green Series, we want to share with you what we’ve been doing in our office.
- Currently, we now only print receipts upon request
- Our appointment card reminders, educational materials and hygiene bags are printed with recycled materials
- Our educational pamphlets are also printed on paper from FSC derived sources (Forest Stewardship Council)
- We have initiated all digital forms– encouraging our patients to go paperless – subscribe to email/text
- We have an in-house recycling program in place for all paper, plastics, cardboard, etc. with a separate co-mingled recycling dumpster
- Our dental instruments are all recycled at end of use – NOT disposed of in landfills
- We recycle all electronics including monitors and keyboards, etc. utilizing Staples recycling program – Wendy recently took 3 car loads!
- We recycle all used office ink and toner
- LED bulbs are used throughout the building to improve energy efficiency
- We utilized low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint on a recent office remodel
- Whenever possible, we orient our office layout to maximize natural light and ventilation
- Digital impressions are taken whenever possible – reducing the use of plastics, water and waste as well as packaging material and unnecessary transport
- Utilizing digital imaging reduces the amount of radiation emitted and also reduces waste and use of toxic chemicals
- We have an amalgam separator on site and use NO amalgam for dental restorations – amalgam separators prevent amalgam from entering the sewage system
- We are constantly searching and researching eco-friendly options for dental products such as single use plastics
- We encourage and incentivize staff carpooling to all group events and lunch outings
- Continue to educate our staff on green practices and introduce evolving change for the betterment of our planet – we’re all in this together!
