At 6:15am, it was still cold and dark as the Burger King employee and I stood staring at the smoke coming off my engine, and it made me more than a little uncomfortable that he was holding his lighter so close to the hissing radiator hose that necessitated my pulling off the highway 2 hours shy of my destination. Here, in the midst of the Information Age, we all have access to as much info as we can handle, and that’s a good thing. However, as anyone who has used a search engine knows, there’s a lot of mis-information out there, as well! Well, to help separate the wheat from the chaff on anything dental, our office has added... read more »
I suppose I’m not the only one who sat around on New Year’s Day, reflecting on the year just past and thinking about the year ahead….between football games. I also sat in front of my laptop, intermittently surfing the internet for news and listening to music on iTunes, slowly absorbing everything from the suspense of going over the Fiscal Cliff,... read more »
Watching the new Bond movie, Skyfall, the other day, I couldn’t help but notice the obvious parallels between 007 and myself. Okay, there are no obvious parallels between 007 and myself, but as I watched the movie, it was hard not to reflect (between high-powered action scenes) on some changes in the Bond world: A new “M.” A new “Q.” ... read more »
No matter which political camp one belongs to, last night’s first-of-three televised debates leading up to the 2012 Presidential Election should make all Americans proud. And that’s a good thing. Although the ability for a patient to post a review of our... read more »
We lost a good one today. Colene House has just completed a 41-year run as a Registered Dental Hygienist—an ultra ultramarathon in the practice of clinical dental hygiene. We were proud to have her for 23 of those years in our office. And it wasn’t her choice. Over time, Colene unfortunately developed a carpometacarpal (base of thumb) condition that ultimately became... read more »
The 1,433 study participants, aged 20-79, were asked to self-report how many dental xrays they thought they had. Cost and time constraints restricted the researchers from validating all of the responses. Of the ones they did, it was found that the respondents actually over-reported how many xrays they had. The respondents were not analyzed for genetic predisposition to meningiomas. Might that be a contributing... read more »
